The game idea in Blackjack is relatively simple. It is about hitting the dealer and coming closest to the number 21 without ending up with a speech over it, using cards that are shared with you. Even if you are several players at a Blackjack table, you only play against the dealer in each deal. It does not matter if more than you win in one and the same round when you still get your full profit. A game in Blackjack will allow you to bet on your hand even before the cards are dealt, and then you as a player will receive two open cards while the dealer gets one.
It is now up to you to consider whether you want one to card or if you want to stay. Only after that does the dealer pull another card. In order for you to win, you must have a higher total than the dealer, but not over the number 21 in total. The dealer must stay at 17 or higher and must not stop short before it has ended up there. If you or the dealer gets over 21, the game is lost and the opponent has won. If you reach equal between 17 and 19 then the dealer wins but if it equals 20 or 21, you split the pot.
Then you as a player have neither won nor lost. The hand called Blackjack, an ace and a jack wins directly against other hands. If this was the whole game then it would have been a simple, perhaps not as fascinating, game as it is now. Over the years, Blackjack has become much more versatile and nowadays there are several game variations on different casinos. To prevent cheating or card counting you now play with more than one deck of cards. In fact, you can use up to eight games on some casinos, but the most common one is to settle for two to four.
As a player you need to make certain choices: hit, stand, double down and split. This means that you take a card, on stand then you stay on your two cards. Through a double down you double your bet and draw a card while a split lets you split two cards in two different hands. The dealer never uses either split or double down, and different casinos have different rules for how these hands should be played. The value of the cards is counted according to numbering, dressed cards are automatically ten and an ace can be worth both one or eleven.
